Deep ruby. Expressive aromas of blackcurrant, dark cherry, spice cake, molasses, Cuban tobacco, anise and loamy earth, accented by exotic oak spices. Firm, structured and deep, showing flavors of spicy cherry, kirsch, clove and cinnamon. This really benefited from aeration, showing a rich, broad, suave texture and finishing with ample but ripe tannins and lingering licorice and pepper. The 2001 is all dark fruit balanced with soft silky tannins & a beautiful long finish that goes on and on. Could go for a few more years but drinking at peak now - best moss wood on record and better wine making than the current few vintages.
